Renault Car/Truck Body PartsAlthough the history of the Renault dates back to the late 1800's; the car wasn't introduced to the American public until the nineteen fifties. The history of the vehicle, though, is rather interesting. The Renault brothers founded the company in 1898, Louis, the engineer of the bunch had much experience designing automobiles, and pulled is two business worthy brothers in on the deal of their lifetime. Deciding that the best way to make a name for themselves was to enter their automobiles in races held throughout France, the brothers soon found themselves expanding their company tremendously. Unfortunately, one of the brothers, Marcel, was even killed racing one of their vehicles in the Paris-Madrid Race. Noted for producing the first sedan, as well as the first ever turbocharger, the remaining brothers found their niche in developing automobiles for taxi services, bus and commercial businesses, as well as military vehicles. In fact, Renault became known as the number one manufacturer of airplane engines during World War I. Between the two World Wars, the Renault brothers continued to manufacturer industrial and utilitarian vehicles for farming and the agricultural arena. Another family tragedy occurred during World War II, Louis, the engineer of the bunch, was arrested by the Nazi's for manufacturing automobiles, which was strictly forbidden; found dead in his cell, the autopsy performed suggested that he had been murdered, his neck was broken. As a result, the Renault industry became a public industry and in fact, the government of France still owns a little over 15 percent of the Renault Company. Today the Renault is the fifth most sold vehicle in England, following behind other industry leaders like the Vauxhall, Peugeot, Volkswagen, and Ford. As well, the reported net income for the company rose an astounding 43% in 2004. A record breaking 2,489,401 vehicles were sold that year throughout the world, representing a 4.1% global market share. Sales in the United States were by far less than hoped, throughout the eighties; the Renault Company struggled with the American market. However, there were a few exceptions, like the very economical, compact Renault Alliance GTA convertible. This convertible had European style combined with a fully automatic roof, as well a 2.0 liter engine; which was a pretty large engine for this small a car.
