It is estimated that the Pontiac Group sold an astonishing 36,000 plus vehicles in the US alone during its ten years of production, as well in Canada, the automobile sold approximately 33,500 units. In June of 2005, the Pontiac Sunfire reached the end of its production life. As of 2006, GM has not replaced the vehicle's vacancy in the US market.
