Mercury Cougar Car/Truck Body PartsFor over three decades this automobile has traveled our highways and Interstates. The Mercury Cougar was debuted in 1967 and continued to be produced until 2002. Throughout its history, the Mercury Cougar often shared platforms with other Ford vehicles, in the first couple of years, it even shared the platform with the infamous Ford Mustang, later with the Thunderbird, and the last version of the Cougar shared its platform with the Ford Contour. The most famous of all Mercury automobiles, the Cougar was in fact Mercury's first pony car. As a result, the Mercury brand sold an astonishing 150,000 plus vehicles that first year. In 1974, the Mercury Cougar started making it's way from sports car to luxury sedan, so while most cars were downsizing, the Cougar was in fact upsizing, a larger wheel base and roomier interior was just some of the mid seventy features. Production for this new look was not well received, still the manufacturer kept the look of a luxury sedan for many years. Thankfully before the end of the Cougar's days, the manufacturer did bring back the origins of the Cougar and the last generation Cougar was once again a great looking sports car.
